Apple Unveils Major Service Updates Across All Platforms This Fall with iOS 26 and More

June 2025 – Cupertino, California — This fall, Apple will launch a significant wave of updates across its entire ecosystem of services with the release of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26, and watchOS 26. These updates promise a host of intelligent new features aimed at enhancing users’ everyday experiences — from listening to music and navigating with Maps to making secure purchases and tracking travel.

The updates introduce major improvements across Apple Music, Apple Maps, Apple Wallet, Apple Podcasts, and other key services. Highlights include a DJ-style listening experience in Apple Music, smarter routing in Apple Maps, personalized order tracking via Apple Intelligence in Wallet, a dynamic boarding pass interface, Digital ID support, and more.

“Apple’s services are integral to many parts of a user’s day,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services. “These updates will help users better navigate and explore the world around them with Apple Maps, offer an enhanced Apple Music experience, elevate how they shop with Apple Pay and Apple Wallet, and so much more.”

“AI and machine learning are a core part of what makes Apple’s services feel so personal and intuitive to our users,” added Jeff Robbin, Vice President of Services Engineering. “We’re excited to continue adding thoughtful, tailored experiences — including AutoMix in Apple Music and Enhance Dialogue in Apple Podcasts.”

Apple Music: Introducing AutoMix and AI-Powered Lyric Features

Apple Music is taking the listening experience to a new level with AutoMix, an AI-powered feature that transitions between songs using time stretching and beat matching — just like a professional DJ. This update ensures a continuous, seamless musical experience.

Also launching this fall are Lyrics Translation and Lyrics Pronunciation, enabling users to understand and sing along to tracks in foreign languages. These features use machine learning combined with expert fine-tuning to preserve meaning and cultural nuances.

The popular Sing feature is now even more engaging. With an iPhone acting as a microphone and Apple TV providing real-time lyrics and visual effects, group singalongs become fully immersive. Additionally, users can now pin their favorite music to the top of their Apple Music Library for easier access.

Apple Maps: Enhanced Intelligence with Preferred Routes and Visited Places

Apple Maps is becoming more intelligent and personalized. New features such as Preferred Routes use on-device learning to suggest the most frequently taken paths, like the daily commute to work or home. A Maps widget shows traffic previews and sends commute notifications before a user even begins their trip.

The new Visited Places feature tracks and stores locations visited frequently — like restaurants or shops — using on-device intelligence. These places are searchable, shareable, and securely encrypted for user privacy, with the option to delete them at any time.

Apple Podcasts: More Customization with Playback Speeds and Enhance Dialogue

The Apple Podcasts app now gives listeners more control over playback with new speed options ranging from 0.5x to 3x, allowing users to tailor each show to their preference.

Using machine learning and real-time audio processing, the new Enhance Dialogue feature makes it easier to hear speech over background noise — an ideal addition for podcast fans listening on the go.

Apple Wallet and Apple Pay: Smarter Tracking and Expanded Payment Options

Apple Intelligence now powers order tracking in Apple Wallet by pulling and summarizing tracking info from merchant or carrier emails. This creates a unified view of all ongoing orders, complete with notifications and status updates.

Apple Pay introduces new flexibility for in-store purchases by expanding the ability to pay with rewards and installments directly from iPhone. Users can pay with rewards or access installment loan offers through participating credit or debit cards.

These features will roll out in:

  • U.S.: Affirm, Cash App Afterpay, Klarna, Synchrony, U.S. Bank
  • U.K.: Klarna, Monzo
  • Canada: Klarna

Apple Cash: Group Payment Features in Messages

Apple Cash now supports sending and requesting money within group chats in the Messages app. Whether it’s splitting a restaurant bill or collecting money for concert tickets, users can conveniently settle up with a tap — either to individuals or the entire group.

Travel Upgrades: Refreshed Boarding Pass and Digital ID in Wallet

A revamped boarding pass experience in Apple Wallet offers real-time Live Activities, including flight updates, airport navigation via Maps, and tracking items with Find My.

Supported airlines at launch include:

  • Air Canada
  • American Airlines
  • Delta Air Lines
  • JetBlue
  • Jetstar
  • Lufthansa Group
  • Qantas
  • Southwest Airlines
  • United Airlines
  • Virgin Australia

Also new is the Digital ID feature, allowing users to securely add and present a U.S. passport-based digital ID for identity verification at TSA checkpoints within the U.S. (Note: Digital ID is not valid for international travel.)

Apple is also expanding Verify with Wallet on the Web, letting users present a digital driver’s license or state ID to websites for age and identity verification. Partners at launch include Chime, Turo, Uber Eats, and U.S. Bank, alongside state DMVs such as Arizona, Georgia, and Maryland.

Apple Fitness+: Custom Plans for Consistent Routines

Apple Fitness+ introduces Custom Plans, allowing users to create workout and meditation schedules based on preferred activities, trainers, and music.

New ready-made plan options include:

  • Stay Consistent: A schedule matching your current habits.
  • Push Further: Increases workout time or frequency.
  • Get Started: Helps newcomers begin with curated plans.

All Custom Plans are conveniently located on the new Plans page for easy management.

Apple News+: Emoji Game Joins the Puzzles Lineup

The Apple News+ service is expanding its puzzle selection with the addition of Emoji Game, which challenges users to complete phrases using emoji with as few moves as possible.

Emoji Game joins Crossword, Mini-Crossword, Quartiles, and Sudoku, offering daily puzzles that can be shared, tracked, and played competitively via Game Center leaderboards. The game is available in the U.S. and Canada (English-speaking users only) through the Following tab of the News app.

Apple Continues to Deliver Smarter, Seamless Everyday Experiences

From personalized navigation and DJ-style music transitions to smarter shopping and secure travel, Apple’s fall service updates underscore the company’s focus on using intelligence and design to enrich users’ daily lives.

These enhancements reflect Apple’s ongoing mission to deliver services that are more personal, private, and powerful — and they’re set to roll out globally alongside Apple’s new operating systems later this year.
